Privacy Policy
The short version
Serene Studios is an independent developer based in Canada and the sole party responsible for this policy. Momentos does not collect your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no Serene Studios servers. Everything you enter stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access. Health data never leaves your device or your iCloud.
What the app stores, and where
Momentos stores the information you create: your activities and routines, logged sessions, tasks, rest days, your chosen display name, and your preferences. This is stored on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, in your private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database) so it syncs across your own devices.
Home-screen widgets and Siri Shortcuts read the same on-device data so they can show your activities or start a session without opening the app. Nothing is sent off-device.
We, the developer, have no access to your private iCloud data. Momentos has no backend servers and transmits none of your content to us or any third party.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
If you connect Apple Health, Momentos can, with your permission, read workouts, sleep, mindful minutes, step count, active energy, exercise minutes, stand time, and activity-ring summaries, and write mindful sessions and workouts you complete in the app.
Health data is used only to display and track your activity inside the app. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never shared with third parties, and never sent to any server. You can revoke access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Location
If you turn on the "Follow the sun" option, Momentos asks for when-in-use location access once, uses it to compute the local sunrise and sunset times that anchor your day's shape, and caches those times on your device. Location is never stored on a server, never transmitted to Serene Studios or any third party, and never used for advertising. You can revoke access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Purchases
The one-time unlock and optional tip jar are handled entirely by Apple's in-app purchase system under Apple's privacy policy. Momentos does not receive or store your payment details.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, they are scheduled and delivered on-device. No notification content is sent to a server.
Analytics, tracking, and third parties
Momentos contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. It does not use App Tracking Transparency and does not track you across apps or websites. Diagnostic reports collected by iOS stay on your device unless you explicitly choose to share them.
Your control over your data
- Export: Settings → Health & Data → Export saves a full copy of your data as JSON or CSV at any time.
- Delete: Settings → Health & Data → Start fresh erases all of your data on your device, in iCloud, and on any other device signed into your account. Deleting the app removes its on-device data.
Your rights
If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, California, or any other region with privacy laws, you have rights to access, correct, port, and delete personal data held about you. Because Momentos does not hold any of your data, you exercise all of these rights directly on your device. Export gives you a full copy. Start fresh deletes everything. Editing your activities and tasks corrects them. There is nothing held by Serene Studios for us to release or erase on your behalf.
Children
Momentos is a personal daily-tracking app for a general audience. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
